Trip Information

Best Season & Time for Aannapurna Base Camp Trek

There are four main seasons in Nepal. Spring (March-May), autumn (Sep-Nov, winter (Dec-Feb), and Monsoon (June-August). You better choose right season for the ABC trek. Here are all details information.

Spring (March, April & May) – The spring is the peak season for Aannapurna Base Camp Trek. This is the busiest month due to the pleasant weather and clear skies. The majority of trekkers choose this season because they want to indulge in nature by adoring the rhododendron forests. Besides, you’ll also get spectacular views of beautiful mountains and landscapes. Furthermore, the stunning scenery gives trekkers outstanding photograph opportunities.

Trekking in Autumn (September, October, November): My favourite season is Autumn (Sep-Nov) for the ABC trek, 13 days. This season falls after monsoon.  That means, there are very less chances of rain, cool & warm temperatures. There are no issues of landslides, flows during hiking activities.

Autumn is the promising season to stay Nepal. During your hiking, you’ll see different vibrant and major festivals of Nepal – Dashain (worshipping goddess durga), Tihar, Bhai Tika, Gobardhan Puja and other which  followed by Hindu religions. You also have a golden chance to know the culture, traditions and custom’s of Nepal.

Trekking ABC in winter (Dec to February):  Embarking on Annapurna Base Camp in winter is a rewarding but equally challenging. The Temperature during winter is harsh even in daytime. It ranges from 0 to 5 Celsius and -10 to -15 during nighttime. This season is not recommended for inexperienced hikers. If you want to feel heaven on earth, you may explore the Annapurna during the winter season. Don’t worry, Sherpa Discovery Treks are always at your service; the tea houses and lodges always welcome their guests and visitors even in the off-season.

Monsoon (Rainy Season): Monsoon can be the last best option for Annapurna Base Camp trek. You can plan your trek anytime in the year. However, monsoon is not optimal season. Here are the reasons

  • Heavy rainfall
  • Increased high chances of landslides, floods and rock falls
  • Increment in leaches and mosquitoes in the trekking route
  • Very low visibility
  • Unpredictable weather
  • Very high chances of flight delayed and cancellation.
