Numerous tales surround this legendary camp, many expeditions have begun from here, history and records have been made and broken, and many well-known faces have left their mark.
Once you are at the EBC, we promise your senses will begin to tingle, and your soul will vibrate with new energy and adventure. Our Everest Base Camp trek 12 days experience suits those who like to submerge themselves in the captivation of the Himalayas and the astounding Sherpa heritage.

We ensure that everyone regardless of their background or expertise can fully participate in our Everest Base Camp trek 12 days trip.
This trek will take you to Lukla from Kathmandu or Ramechhap. Then traversing the very renowned Khumbu mountain path of Dudh Koshi and Imja Khola, you will pass many popular Sherpa hamlets of Namche, Tengboche, Pangboche, Pheriche, Dingboche, and Lobuche.
The Sherpa dominate the region who will graciously share their timeless Buddhist traditions and culture with you. At Tengboche, you will have the opportunity to pray for your success at its magnificent monastery, while in Dingboche, you can ascend the Chhukung Ri or Nagarjun Ridge. In Namche, you will be able to dine at the highest Himalayan hotel, the Everest View (3880 m).
Day 8 of our Everest Base Camp 12 days expedition marks the second pinnacle as you arrive at EBC. But here, Everest will conceal itself and so the next morning, we will hike up to the Black Mountain below Pumori, the Kala Patthar.
See and hear yourself the songs of Pumori (7161 m), Lingtren (6749 m), Lhotse (8516 m), Ama Dablam (6812 m), Khumbutse (6639 m), Lobuche (6119 m), Changtse (7543 m), and Nuptse (7861 m). With pride swelling in your heart, you will then proceed to begin your return trip to Kathmandu.
Our Everest Base Camp trek 12 days trip suits everyone across two seasons of the year (Fall and Spring). If you are hearing the beckoning of Everest, then do not delay and join our Everest Base Camp Trek 12 days journey now.
Our Everest Base Camp trek 12 days journey sets in motion from today as we prepare to reach Lukla, our starting location. A small aircraft from TIA or Ramechhap Airport in Manthali will take us to our destination.
If we have to fly from Ramechhap, which usually occurs in the Fall and spring periods due to congested TIA air traffic, you will receive a private transfer from Sherpa Discovery Treks around 1 AM that will help you complete the 4 to 5-hour road journey.
Once we are at Lukla, we will be able to gaze upon the dimensions of Kongde Ri. Here, our support team will meet us and together we will head down along the 12 km road towards Phakding.
Crossing the vivacious Dudh Koshi, we will greet Chheplung, Chaurikharka, Thadokoshi, and Ghat before we are at Phakding. Khumbila, the virgin holy Sherpa peak, and Kusum Kanguru calm our vision.
After the Himalayan morning in Phakding, we will set forth along the steady uphill path above Dudh Koshi through the fir, magnolia, and rhododendrons of Benkar to reach Monjo.
UNESCO-protected Sagarmatha National Park begins from here after which we walk up consistently to the photogenic Hilary Suspension Bridge through Jorsalle.
Beneath us, the wild energetic untamed waters of Bhote Koshi and Dudh Koshi flow fiercely. Now, the demanding, switchback climb will direct us over Top Danda and then towards Namche.
For the very first time on the route, Everest, Taboche, Lhotse, Thamserku, and Nuptse please our eyes.
We will take a break from our regular hiking and enjoy a day at Namche to get adjusted smoothly to the Khumbu high air. Watching the business of the Sherpa people, we can hike upstream to Khumjung Village (3790 m) and see the school founded by Hilary and its monastery said to have preserved the Yeti bones.
We may also decide to hike further up above the Syangboche Hill and enjoy the day with Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Everest, Cholatse, Tawache, Lhotse, and Thamserku at the terrace of Everest View Hotel, the tallest in the world with 3880 m elevation.
From Namche, we will start to trek along the beautiful high-elevation trail for a while. Then, a photogenic steel cable bridge will lead us over the Imja Khola.
Once on the other side, we will begin the ascent through the peacefully silent rhododendron thickets towards Phungi Thenga (3250 m). After providing some rest to our feet, we will proceed with two more hours of rigorous ascent till we are at our destination of Tengboche.
We will use our afternoon to explore the village Buddhist Gompa/Monastery established in 1916. We can also be the fortunate ones invited by the monks to pray for our Everest Base Camp Trek 12 days adventure success.
Look around you, the Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Everest, and Nuptse shine showing their enormous white faces.
Once again, our Everest Base Camp trek itinerary will make us walk up along the scenic ridge trail, this time towards Deboche Village (3820 m). A steel cable bridge will guide us above the Imja Khola after which the ascending forest trail will steer us to Upper Pangboche (3900 m). This village also has the typical Sherpa monastery that one time kept the Yeti bones.
After looking around the monastery, notice the highly elevated landscape that goes barren now. Ama Dablam starts to dominate the horizon as we direct our path through Orsho, Shomare, and Tsuro Wog beside the Lobuche River to arrive at Dingboche.
It is one of the tallest populated Himalayan Village of the Khumbu where you can spend your afternoon enjoying delicious coffee and cake at one of the bakeries.
Spend your evening with Mount Nuptse, Taboche, Mount Thamserku, Mount Lhotse, Mount Ama Dablam, and Mount Cholatse
We are sleeping above at almost 4500 m altitude so a further acclimatization is needed before we proceed with our Everest Base Camp trek 12 days trip.
Since Dingboche is the gateway of the Chhukung Valley, we can make a small upward trip towards this valley and climb the 5546 m high Chhukung Ri.
Or, you can also stay at Dingboche and use the chance to ascend the 5050 m high Nagarjun (Nangkartshang) Ridge. This ridge will steer you along the rocky landscape for around three hours ultimately granting you the fantastic scenes composed by the Ama Dablam, Baruntse, Cholatse, Island, Lobuche, Makalu, Nirukhang, Tawache, and Thamserku Peaks.
We have two possible routes available today to reach Lobuche from Dingboche. One will rise us steadily up through the Dusa mountain plateau to the Dughla Pass and the other goes down steeply towards Pheriche before we make up again to the Dughla Pass.
Since we will return via the Pheriche route, we will proceed with the ascending trail along the gradual slopes of Dusa and reach Dughla (4500 m).
Next awaits the 4830 m height of Dughla Pass which will humble us with the many memorial shrines built in remembrance of fallen brave mountain climbers.
The side moraine wall of Khumbu Glacier will then direct us with the unbelievable vistas of Arakam Tse (Cholatse), Ama Dablam, Taboche, and Pumori towards Lobuche.
The thrill of our Everest Base Camp 12 days trip reaches its pinnacle as we journey towards the EBC today. But first, we will exit Lobuche and follow the side moraine of the Khumbu Glacier and proceed up towards Thangma Riju (Lobuche Pass).
Then, we will begin to follow the side wall of the Changri Nup and Changri Shar Glaciers till we are at Gorakshep, the final lodge village before EBC.
Here, we will drop off our backpacks, and after a meal and a short rest, we will head left and proceed directly to Everest Base Camp. The Khumbu Glacier side wall will drive us upward consistently till we are at EBC.
Everest will hide behind but Pumori,Lingtren, Changtse, Lhotse, Khumbutse, Nuptse, and Icefall of Khumbu will be seen splendidly very near to us.
We will now leave this distinct mountain location towards Goraskhep.
We will conquer almost 500 m altitude today from Gorakshep as we stand atop the black summit of Kala Patthar, a rocky peak beneath Pumori. A one to two-hour-long rocky journey is not technical at all, but the elevation, wind, and cold can make it a bit tough.
Soon enough, we will be able to see the true majesty of Everest and come to know why it is literally the Mother Mountain of all. Beside the Everest stand the snow structures of Pumori, Khumbutse, Lingtren, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Changtse, Nuptse, Lobuche, and similar alike.
Now, we will descend back again to our lodge at Gorakshep and then proceed down satisfied to Pheriche. Lobuche, Dughla Pass, and Dughla will be the familiar sites as we travel down to this village.
We will continue traveling further and further down into the rich vegetation zone of Khumbu. We will get out of the Imja Valley, and navigate through Pangboche once more.
Inside the Dudh Koshi Valley, numerous photogenic steel cable bridges will be crossed as we travel through Deboche, Tengboche, Phungi Thanga, and Sanasa before we ultimately ascend to Namche.
From Namche, the steep downward trail will once more steer us through the Jorsalle and Monjo villages. Once we are out of the Sagarmatha National Park, we begin to lose sight of major peaks.
Traveling back comfortably via Benkar, Phakding, Thadokoshi, Chheplung, and Chaurikharka, the known warmth of Lukla welcomes us where our laborious crew will leave us to our comfort.
Leaving Khumbu, once again the tiny aircraft from Lukla airport flies us back to Ramechhap or Kathmandu. If we happen to land at Ramechhap, our private transfer will receive us to travel us back to Kathmandu and your lodging.
Although the season and climate cannot be predicted, but typically, the Everest Base Camp trek 12 days trip is regarded best when taken in the months of September, October, November, March, April, and May.
The dry spell of autumn in between September to November engulfs Everest and its landscape in the nice warm vibe and clear air with the perfect mountain sights in view.
On the other hand, the spring vibes within March to May wake up nature with gorgeous rhododendrons and lively animals. The cold days between December to February should be best reserved for expert and experienced hikers while the hot months of June, July, and August should be less attempted for the 12 days Everest Base Camp trek due to the presence of highly humid and wet air.
The difficulty grade of our Everest Base Camp trek 12 days trip has been specified as profile II indicating the journey presents a medium challenge to its eager trekkers.
The hiking route more or less runs in the circle for about 130 km beginning and finishing in Kathmandu. The ultimate elevation of 12 days trek reaches 5644 m at Kala Patthar while letting you sleep at the 5140 m altitude of Gorakshep.
Most walking will span up to 6 hours without the need for any special technical knowledge or gear. The route is dotted with numerous comfortable tea houses and resting spots.
The higher zone of Khumbu can be a bit tougher for new hikers but simply manageable with a little bit of perseverance and fitness.
Certainly, the Everest base Camp trek route deserves to be admired but it is also not too daunting making it an excellent first-time trip for new hikers who are up for the adventure the trek presents.
A fair of difficulty, a well-marked path, an easy travel mode with the flights, easy availability of homely accommodations, and no essentiality of technical expertise make this trek a very suitable Himalayan trip for all levels of individuals.
Still, good health, endurance, and the ability to walk along different terrain is a requirement for our Everest Base Camp trek 12 days trip.
Please make sure you talk to your doctor if you experience any heart or lung problems. Tell them all about your trek, adventure, and terrain and only join us once they approve.
Altitude sickness typically called the AMS or the acute mountain sickness can worry you on our 12 days Everest Base Camp trek. The high alpine terrain, the decreasing oxygen content at high elevations, and the strain of long walking hours can exert pressure on your body.
In the lack of proper and timely adjustment to the high air, the AMS can appear in any individual which can strike in the form of headaches, cough, fatigue, insomnia, and vertigo.
Such physical conditions can be prevented if you don’t overstress yourself, take the walking as a pleasure and not as a race, and keep drinking water en route at frequent intervals.
A respective day off with short adjusting walks at Namche and Dingboche has been integrated into our Everest Base Camp trek itinerary as well.
Our guide will be with you at your hard times and will help manage if AMS occurs by either descending you back or providing you resting opportunity.
Taking Diamox in Kathmandu or when AMS appears will also be wise. However, make sure you don’t have any conflicting health issues, such as allergies or those related to your kidneys before taking this anti-altitude medicine.
Our Everest Base Camp trek 12 days trip doesn’t demand a pro athletic build, fitness, or skill but it does necessitate the readiness of your mind and body.
Therefore, start with the required prep a month ahead of your trip bodywise and mindwise. Bodywise, you can ready yourself for the Everest Base Camp experience with regular common but effective exercises such as walking, cycling, jogging, running, biking, or swimming.
All these regular activities will prepare your body for the exertion and pressure of long walks. To get ready for the regular shifts in the altitude on the trek, and the up and down slopes, climbing the stairs will be the best action for you.
For your effective heart pumping, sports such as basketball, football, and volleyball will also help while treadmill walks along with the push-ups, pull-ups, planks, and squats will also do the trick.
Mindwise, you need to prepare yourself for group coordination if you decide to travel in a group. You also need to know that the climate can shift instantly and can become intense at any time in the Everest region.
The ongoing infrastructure development in Khumbu has opened up many possibilities to reach EBC. If flying makes you nervous, then you can also choose to walk through Salleri, Phaplu, Jiri, or Bhandar to get to EBC.
If you want to reduce your walking days, you can also choose to head back directly from Gorakshep to Kathmandu or Lukla by helicopter. You can also bypass the delays with internal Lukla regular flights by flying in a heli to Lukla or Pheriche.
You can also complete the entire EBC tour by helicopter in just 5 hours from Kathmandu. Regarding the addition of other trekking routes, you can Gokyo Lake or the three passes in our Everest Base Camp trek itinerary.
You can also decide to climb the Lobuche Peak, Mera Peak, or Island Peak while trekking up to EBC.
Each night on the Everest Base Camp trek 12 days expedition, you will settle down in cozy mountain houses commonly called tea houses or lodges.
We will as much as possible arrange the newly built lodges which have now stepped up to provide comfort to their guests. Along with the delicious nourishing meals, and comfortable beds, they also offer ensuite showers and toilets, WiFi, and hot showers.
Typically, the tea house will give you a double room with two beds and some must have furniture. However, till Dingboche, you can also ask for a single room with a private toilet and shower.
However, once you reach Lobuche and Gorak Shep, you will need to share a common toilet. You will also get to connect with WiFi on the route and at these tea houses for a small charge.
When it comes to meals and dinners. Breakfasts and lunches will be on your table every day. Sherpa and Nepali cuisine along with international freshly made foods and bakery items are available.
Sherpa Discovery Treks has also sorted out your transportation services. You will receive a private vehicle with a personal driver or your hotel pick-ups and drop-offs along with domestic airport transfers (TIA or Ramechhap).
Flights occurring between Kathmandu/Ramechhap and Lukla will also be looked after.
The Khumbu Municipality Local Area permit and the Sagaramatha/Everest National Park permits are two formal documents that we must have for our Everest Base Camp trek itinerary.
The Khumbu Municipality local area permit omits the need for a TIMS Card while the Everest Park permit will let us walk inside its UNESCO protected area.
Our guide coming with you will procure them at Lukla or Monjo at the respective cost of NPR 2000 (Khumbu permit) and NPR 3000 (for the park) per tourist.
Mountain adventure in any part of the planet always conceals some kind of dangers and hazards. Such hazards can be linked to the high Himalayan environment, abrupt weather changes, remoteness, and difficult terrain.
Our Everest Base Camp trek 12 days journey is also one such mountain trip that mandates international travel insurance from each of its hikers.
No insurance means no mandatory permits and no trek at all. Thus, when you set to prepare yourself for this trek, the best step will be getting the right travel insurance that looks after your helicopter rescue, evacuation, or transfer from the Everest region to an altitude of up to 5700 m.
There should also be accidental and medical coverage with which your insurer will be responsible for all your medical expenses that can occur during your hospital stays, or surgeries (if needed).
If you add other miscellaneous coverage as well that is associated with all types of international travel, then it will be very wise on your part. They may include postponements, cancellations, or delays of trips and flights along with your belongings loss, damage, or theft.
On the Lukla, Namche, and Lobuche to Gorakshep route, you may get connected to free WiFi. For all-time access, the prepaid cards issued from Everest Link, or AirLink can be of great help.
Use the government mobile network of NTC also called Namaste as they offer better coverage in the far mountain region of Nepal including Everest.
No, except for the Everest climbers, no other is permitted to sleep in EBC for health safety and environmental issues.
Yes, they are if they have very good health conditions, can tell about their discomforts, and are capable of handling the long hikes.
The gigantic snow and rock walls of Nuptse, Pumori, Khumbu Glacier, and Lhotse obstruct the Everest view in ts base camp.
