This adventure will lead you to the striking destinations offering cultural treasures, spiritual immersion, and jaw-dropping landscapes, where you will have unforgettable moments of a lifetime.
On this adventurous tour, you will travel from Nepal, the Land of Living Goddess and the birthplace of Lord Gautam Buddha, to Tibet, the Roof of the World. Even with limited time, you can still experience diverse landscapes, food, culture, and religion in a short time.
Your 9-day Nepal Tibet tour itinerary starts right from the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu. Here, you will visit some of the well-known UNESCO World Heritage sites such as Swayambhunath Stupa, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, and Boudhanath Stupa which takes around 3 to 4 hours. Visiting these places will help you to learn the timeless beauty of the art and its fascinating past.
The next day, you will take a flight to Pokhara, the city of lakes in Nepal. The place is famous for its calm surroundings, thrilling activities, and nature’s delights. You will explore different tourist attractions of the city, such as Davis Falls, Gupteshwar Cave, Phewa Lake, and Mahendra Cave.
After sightseeing in the two cities of Nepal on this Nepal Tibet Tour package, you will experience a scenic flight that will fly you across the majestic snow-clad peaks to Tibet’s capital, Lhasa. You will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to immerse yourself in Tibetan spirituality while seeing sacred temples and century-old monasteries.
In Lhasa, the wonders of the culture-rich city are coming to you, like Sera Monastery, Norbulingka Palace, Jokhang Temple, and the lively Barkhor Market. You will witness Lhasa’s strong religious past and the people’s simple life when you take this sightseeing tour.
On the 2nd day of your Lhasa sightseeing tour, you will also visit the famous Potala Palace to admire its impressive architecture and the ancient Tibetan culture that has been around for ages. Next, by visiting Drepung Monastery, you will be able to experience the monks and nuns engaging in ritual prayers and religious discussions.
Overall, throughout your entire journey, our amiable local guides in both Nepal and Tibet ensure your experience is trouble-free, smooth, and enriching. By combining the best of both worlds —carefully planned sightseeing and your own time to relax or take a stroll —you will be able to create unforgettable memories. dr

On this sixth day of the Nepal and Tibet Tour cost package, you will travel on a guided sightseeing tour in Lhasa after having a mouthwatering breakfast in the hotel. You will begin the first part of the tour from Norbulingka, the Dalai Lama’s summer palace. You can relax in the calm grounds and see the elaborate decorations. It also hosts the Sho Dun (Yogurt) Festival, which is celebrated with rituals, dances, and opera performances.
Your next stop will be Sera Monastery, which is a key center of Tibetan Buddhism in Lhasa, Tibet. It has housed over 1000 monks and is popular for traditional debating sessions. It is a revered site in Tibet, founded in the seventh century. Visitors to this temple can see the Jowo Rinpoche statue and watch pilgrims do kora (circumambulation). Finally, you can end the day by meandering through Barkhor Square, which is lined with local stores and colorful prayer flags.
On this seventh day of the Nepal Tibet Tour package, you will sightsee Lhasa city, starting from Potala Palace, following a tasty breakfast with a hot cup of (black or milk) tea or coffee at the hotel. The Potala Palace stands as one of the most important symbols of Tibetan identity and culture.

If you have more time left in Nepal, you can also extend your package to visit other striking destinations like Chitwan National Park and Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Gautam Buddha. We are committed to making your travel memorable and comfortable.
Each season has its own captivating vistas, but choosing the best time for the Nepal Tibet tour is essential.
If you are planning to travel on this 9-day Tibet tour itinerary and wondering when the best time to go is, consider spring, as it may be hitting the bullseye for good cause. This time is pleasantly warm as the landscapes are rejuvenating from the long slumber by blooming flowers like rhododendrons. You will witness consistently clear skies and unobstructed vistas.
Moreover, in Tibet, the weather is equally favourable with mild temperatures perfect for exploring major sites like Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple & Barkhor Street – warmer days mean pilgrims are more active, so travellers get a lively cultural experience. However, being one of the peak times can be a drawback, as it is crowded with crowds all over the place, making it an unpleasant environment.
The Autumn season for a Nepal-Tibet tour package, which is also known as the golden season, is when the weather in both places—Kathmandu and Tibet—is dry, warm, and very comfortable. Exploring the old streets in Lhasa or taking short treks in the highlands makes this journey ideal. Since this is the busiest time of year, reservations must be made in advance.
Furthermore, it is also the festive time in Nepal, with Dashain and Tihar bringing lively traditions, decorations, and family celebrations. You can even notice that the same festivals don’t mean everyone celebrates in the same way, as there are slight differences since Nepal is a multi-ethnic and multi-lingual country.
The summer season is not ideal, as it is not only known for scorching hot sunny days but also for monsoon days with heavy rainfall, which can make the Nepal Tibet tour package unpredictable. When you are in Kathmandu, you will get regular rain showers, and clouds can also hide the mountains, but after that, the air becomes fresher as the dust settles, and it becomes cleaner and more breathable.
On the other hand, Lhasa doesn’t get many rain showers, making sightseeing easier. If you are looking for the most incredible summer destination in Lhasa, locals often prefer to visit Norbulingka.
Winter is sometimes ignored when planning a Nepal-Tibet travel package, but it has its own appeal. Kathmandu remains moderate throughout the day; however, Lhasa becomes significantly colder, particularly at night. The trade-off for the chill is that the skies are crystal-clear, giving some of the best mountain visibility of the year. Costs are also lower, making this a budget-friendly choice.
You will begin your short Nepal Tibet tour in Kathmandu, which sits at an elevation of 1400 meters. Then, you will take a flight to Pokhara, which sits at an elevation of 820 meters, marking the lowest point of this journey. Then, your next adventure will be in Lhasa, Tibet, which stands at around 3650 meters above sea level, marking the highest point of this 9-day tour.
In Nepal, you will travel around 52 to 55 kilometers by road when you travel to different UNESCO-listed World Heritage sites in Kathmandu Valley. Likewise, you will drive a total of roughly 50 kilometers in Lhasa city. As you will mostly be traveling by vehicle, you will walk minimally, only when sightseeing the monasteries and temples.
This journey can be exhausting due to the travel days, which include a flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara and then from Pokhara to Kathmandu for two consecutive days. From Kathmandu Tribhuvan Airport, you will arrive at Lhasa International Airport. Also, roads in remote areas may be rough, and walking or exploring at elevations above 11,955 ft can feel tiring even for those in good shape.
Since Lhasa sits at 3,650 m (11,975 ft), some travelers may feel mild symptoms of altitude sickness such as headache, dizziness, or shortness of breath. The itinerary includes a rest day upon arrival in Lhasa (Day 5) to help with acclimatization. Staying hydrated and avoiding overexertion further reduces risk.
On this short Nepal Tibet Tour, you will be traveling via a flight and ground transportation. Your domestic flights from Kathmandu to Pokhara or vice versa will be just 25 to 30 minutes, whereas your international flight to Lhasa will be about 1.5 to 2 hours. Your minimum drive will be approximately 20 minutes from the airport to the hotel upon arrival in Nepal.
Likewise, your maximum drive will be around 2 hours when you sightsee in Nepal, specifically at Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square. The time for driving that has been specified are the hours that one should be on the road and should not be counted as the time of the trip where the tourist has stopped to take a break or for any other reason.
On the first day of arrival in Kathmandu, travellers will experience a fusion of heritage and scenery while staying in a tourist-class hotel in Nepal. In Kathmandu and Pokhara, hotels are usually situated on bustling streets or close to traditional temples, placing guests in the heart of the city’s culture and activity.
You will find several options for lodging in the Nepal Tibet tour package, especially in Lhasa, including boutique accommodations with an ancient Tibetan flair, where you can experience a more authentic feeling, such as seeing a Tibetan in their traditional attire and exploring the old city of Lhasa.
These comfortable lodgings also let you witness the fusion of modern and traditional architecture, as if you were living between two different eras. All stays include daily breakfast, while lunch, dinner, and other drinks are excluded, giving travellers the freedom to explore authentic local cuisines, with some offering views of the surrounding mountains.
In Nepal, food ranges from dal bhat, momo, thukpa, and sel roti to Newari specialties like Juju Dhau in Bhaktapur, along with international dishes in Kathmandu and Pokhara. In Tibet, meals feature momo, noodle soups, and the famous yak butter tea. While the national staple tsampa and local chilli-based dishes add a truly cultural taste, drinks like tea, coffee, bottled water, and local beer in Nepal, or butter tea in Tibet, are widely available but not included in the package.
You will have comfort and flexibility on a private trip with this Nepal Tibet tour package, along with a professional travel guide who acts as a personalized Google Maps and search engine, offering not only directions but also real-time insights and advice that go beyond what any internet service can offer. However, independent travel in Tibet is not allowed.
However, if you are on a budget-friendly trip, then a group trip is ideal for you, as the expenses will be shared among the members. Still, as usual, it is not flexible, and you have to travel according to a pre-planned itinerary programme. Despite this, your travel becomes social and lively, where you won’t be bored and will share the experiences, often creating lasting friendships.
People who enjoy travelling on combo trips and also devotees can join this tour, which combines the cultural heritage of Nepal with the spiritual ancient treasures of Tibet. Anyone with an intermediate fitness level can conquer this journey fully, as the journey involves long travel days and upland destinations.
Tourists will travel to three central locations: Kathmandu and Pokhara, where they can explore UNESCO heritage sites, pristine temples, and surreal Himalayan vistas. Additionally, in Tibet, you will explore the ancient cities in Lhasa, such as the founding of three large Gelugpa monasteries by Je Tsongkhapa and his disciples.
Conversely, it can be your once-in-a-lifetime experience, the Nepal-Tibet tour package, that can be enjoyed with families, friends, and even solo travelling with good photography and adventures, where you will not only learn, but you can also feel the history, as it feels like you are in between two eras, where you will witness numerous monasteries, palaces, markets, and lakes.
Preparing anything in advance with wise precision is a must, as in this 9-day Nepal Tibet tour itinerary, which includes the highlands. You may face the inevitable weather, so having warm, layered, and sturdy shoes is a must-have in your backpack with some personal medications and sunscreens.
In this tour, you won’t need extreme fitness. Still, you may need basic stamina, which will help you travel, as it involves walking through monasteries, palaces, and markets, plus adjusting to altitude if you are a beginner. Light exercise or short hikes beforehand can prepare your body.
No matter where you travel or what you do, good communication is essential. As for this 9-day Nepal Tibet itinerary, you will be guided by an excellent English-speaking tour guide, which will be helpful. They will explain the cultural, historical, and spiritual importance of each place in a way that you will understand and make it enjoyable.
Moreover, it is also helping you connect with local people. The guide will make your tour more authentic, acting as a living translator who will be precisely interested in the cultural depth and warmth that no other robotic Google translator can provide.
For the 9-day Nepal Tibet tour itinerary, travellers must secure specific permits to enter Tibet. Since the journey starts in Nepal, a Chinese Group Visa is required, obtainable from the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu by submitting your original passport, travel plan, photos, and related documents, which is precisely located at Hattisar, Naxal.
Additionally, to ensure a hassle-free travel experience for tourists, our business, Sherpa Discovery, handles all necessary arrangements and get your permits before you arrive in Nepal once you book your package with us. Further, you may have to pay for entrance fees to enter the monasteries.
This 9-day Nepal Tibet tour itinerary includes all ground transportation for your comfort. In Nepal, you will be picked up at the airport and travel in a private car, van, or mini bus, depending on your group size. Sherpa Discovery will arrange all sightseeing in Nepal in private vehicles.
Following your visit to Lhasa, you will be driven on a guided sightseeing tour of Tibet’s highlights by private car. At the end of the excursion, you will be transferred back to the airport for your departure, providing a hassle-free flight.
Since the Nepal Tibet tour package includes a 9-day journey from Nepal to Tibet, comprehensive travel insurance is recommended. Even though it’s not required, purchasing insurance for a mountain vacation is a smart move. The insurance should cover emergency medical care in high altitudes, such as treating altitude sickness and transporting you to a remote hospital if you require medical assistance.
However, this package does not include travel insurance and other personal expenses, which means you have to procure them yourself. Travel insurance acts as a backup battery, a power bank, which can be helpful whenever any damage happens, even a minor issue, so you can travel with peace of mind.
During this 9-day Nepal Tibet Tour itinerary, you can expect a great combination of culture, nature, and spirituality. Explore Kathmandu’s Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, Pashupatinath, and Durbar Square, all UNESCO World Heritage sites, where you can see and understand Nepalese history through the architecture and sacred rituals that are already hundreds of years old.
You will fly to Pokhara to see gorgeous lakes, waterfalls, caves, and mountain views that are both relaxing and exciting. Then you’ll fly to Lhasa, taking in the panoramic views of the snow-capped Himalayas.
There, you will explore the Buddhist traditions of Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Market, Sera and Drepung Monasteries, and the stunning Potala Palace. Together with the local experts, you will enjoy an easy journey, interesting insights, and time to capture beautiful moments in two incredible Himalayan lands.
The package includes entrance fees to major sightseeing sites. However, Nepal visa fees and the Tibet Group Visa cost are not included and must be paid separately. Other meals than breakfast will incur additional fees.
There might be some extra costs if your flight is canceled, the weather is bad, the road is closed, or you have to stay overnight in a place not on the itinerary. Personal expenses, travel insurance, and optional purchases are not included. Additionally, visitors are responsible for tipping drivers, guides, and other members of the support team.
Unfortunately, you cannot do so. A licensed guide is necessary in Tibet to ensure a safe, hassle-free, and enriching experience.
April through October are the best months for beautiful weather and magnificent sights. If you want to have an authentic cultural experience in Lhasa, plan your trip around festivals like Tibetan New Year, Shoton, or Saga Dawa.
You will acclimate in Lhasa at 3650 meters which will help you cope with the rising altitude diminishing the chance of getting altitude sickness.
To visit Nepal, you will require a valid passport, a Nepal visa, occupation information, and two passport-sized pictures. Our firm, Sherpa Discovery, will arrange the Tibet Group Visa in Thamel, Kathmandu, which would take around 3 to 5 days. However, individual travel in Tibet is not permitted.
This tour doesn’t require you to have decent fitness, so basic fitness is enough, as you will be mostly traveling by a vehicle with only short walks to temples, monasteries, and viewpoints in Nepal and Tibet.
Significant route adjustments are not permitted in Tibet, although you can vary stay durations, lunches, accommodations, and activities. However, you can extend the options, like a visit to the North Everest Base Camp, at the time of booking.
No doubt, the hotels on the route, such as those in Tibet and Nepal, are all comfortable and provided with the necessary facilities. They all offer charging outlets, hot showers, and internet connection, making it easy for the customer to enjoy a comfortable stay.
Yes, if you are a solo traveler, you can join a group tour from Nepal and share the fantastic experience with like-minded people.
There are ATMs available all over Kathmandu city and Lhasa. However, it would be best for you to carry enough cash and an international card to withdraw, which may incur some fees.
Definitely, this trip is secure, as it features skilled guides, carefully designed itineraries, lovely hotels, and comfortable cars for your sightseeing.
