It is not a classical trek like Everest, Annapurna, Upper Mustang, or Manaslu. It’s an elegant trip that takes us through the remote areas of Tsum. This trek does not involve any flights or easy drive from Kathmandu. For that reason, this trip is challenging but equally rewarding.

This 11-day trek is full of wonder. It takes you to the remotest parts of the Himalayas and immerses you in natural beauty and cultural richness. Throughout the trip, you’ll see awe-inspiring views of beautiful mountains , including Manaslu, Ganesh , and other surrounding peaks. Preparation of the 11 days TSUM Valley Trek

The 11-day TSUM Valley Trek is one of the most rewarding and adventurous journeys in the Himalayas. It takes you to the remote region of Nepal. On the 7th day of your trek, you’ll ascend to Mu Gompa (3,700 meters).

For the remarkable 11-day trek, you should make an authentic plan and start preparation at least 2 weeks before your trip. Proper preparation and execution will be extremely helpful throughout the trek.

Preparing your body involves regular physical exercise, which includes running, swimming, and other cardiovascular activities . Make sure to prepare all trekking gear and equipment prior to starting the trip. You should also purchase travel insurance for your safety and security throughout the trek. These are the preparations you need to complete before the commencement of your journey. Here are some significant points to follow:

Consult your Doctor – Consult your personal doctor or physician. They assure you whether you are fit for the trip or not.

First Aid Kit – First Aid Kit is essential for any trekker. Put small medicine box on your bag pack. It should have gauze pads, adhesive bandages, antibiotics, antiseptics, paracetamol and ointments

Balance & Flexibility – Make your body flexible and balance

Is Tsum Valley Trek possible for the beginner’s trekker?

If you have never been trekking or hiking and are not physically fit, I am sorry, but this trek is not appropriate for you. The fact is, you must possess some trekking experience and good physical fitness to accomplish this trek.

It’s not like serving food on your plate. Before starting the trip, you must engage in cycling, running, or swimming for at least two weeks before the trip. You must walk at least six to seven hours a day. Furthermore, the trail will have lots of ascents and descents with rocky paths. You need to reach a maximum height of 3,700 meters, which may be tougher for beginners who have never experienced any trekking so far.

Ultimately, this trek is suited for those trekkers who have good hiking experience and can walk comfortably for long hours each day. In addition, we also provide experienced and trained guides and porters for new trekkers.

Detail Itinerary of Tsum Valley Trek – 11 days

Today is the first day of our adventure. After an early morning breakfast, we’ll drive to the Macchakhola. You can choose to ride by public bus or private vehicle.

It takes approximately 7-8 hours in a private vehicle and 8-9 hours in a public transportation. The road is good till Dhading besi, and then becomes rough and challenging due to the graveling pitch.
While driving from Kathmandu to Macchakhola, you’ll see the scenic views with the diverse landscapes. Along with terraced farms, beautiful settlements and a glorious environment mesmerize your mind and heart.

At the end of the day, we’ll reach Macchakhola. We’ll have an overnight stay at the tea house.

Best Time & Season

The Best Time and season play vital roles in the journey or trekking. Any trekker or traveller can choose the right time to enjoy the tour. For either a city tour with family or mountain trekking, you must select the right season. Here are the details.

Spring Season (March to May) – The Spring is a peak season for trekking in Nepal. Usually, trekkers select March to May to enjoy the adventure of TSUM Valley Trek. During this time, the temperature is mild, clear skies, and there are fewer chances of rain which makes ideal time for a high-altitude trek. When you hike in TSUM Valley in spring; you will be overjoyed by seeing the beautiful rhododendron forest.

Autumn (Sep to November) – Likewise Spring, autumn is too favorable for trekking in TSUM Valley. The majority of trekker’s choose Sep to late November for trekking. The monsoon has just ended. There is no chance of rain. Furthermore, you do not have to worry about slippery paths, mud flows or landslides. Therefore, you can select this season to  enjoy the trek.

Monsoon or Rainy Season – Monsoon is not regarded as ideal time for trekking. We are trekking through remotest Himalayas of Nepal. It is advisable to everyone trekking during rainy season is not a good idea. Your journey will become pathetic due to the bad weather.

Winter – Trekking in winter is a better option than monsoon; however not appropriate than autumn and spring. From late December to February, the weather is chilling and severe cold. It is notable to all of you that during winter; the temperature is low at TSUM Valley even at lower altitudes.

Accommodation during 11 days TSUM Valley Trek

We will provide you with comfortable and convenient accommodation services during your 11-day trek of TSUM Valley. When you are in Kathmandu, you’ll get to reside in a 3-star hotel having the facilities of a swimming pool, gym, spas, in-house restaurant, laundry and room service.

Through trekking, we’ll provide you with lodges and tea houses when we are at lower altitudes. There will be a shared room and bathroom. If you need a single room with attached services, you have to pay some additional cost. The more you move upward, our services turn elegant to basic. You can also bring your sleeping bag for your comfort.

(Note: TSUM Valley trek is remote trekking; you’ll get less facility than Everest or PoonHill Trek)

Availability of Food & Meals during the trek

We are in an 11 days of trekking in a TSUM Valley. Any trekker must need balanced foods to conclude the trek. By following, we are providing nutritious, balanced and healthy meal to our hikers throughout the journey. Here are the details.

Breakfast – A breakfast is early meals which play an important role during the journey for trekkers. Usually, we serve breakfast 7-8 am. Here are the breakfast menus and list

Drinking Water Facilities

Drinking pure water is key for the succession of any trekking. By keeping all in mind, you’ll get safe and clean drinking water from us. The packaged bottles and mineral water are easily available when we are in a lower altitude.

Throughout our trek, the cost of water may vary depends how upwards we ascend. The higher the elevation more you have to pay for the drinking water. It may cost around 200 to 600 litres on average. It will be better; if you refill the bottle when you are in the lower region. Aside from this, you may also use water purification tablets.

Permits and Documents needed for the TSUM Valley Trek

To get permits for TSUM Valley trek you need to submit some documents. You have to obtain couple of permit; TSUM Valley Restricted Area permit (RAP) and MANASLU Conservation Area Permit (MCAP).

Documents you need to submit

  • A valid passport for all foreign trekkers
  • Your passport has validity of at least six months before entry in Nepal.
  • A Valid TIM’S Card (Trekker’s Information Management System)
  • You need to submit photocopy of your passport
  • To apply, you need to submit 2 to 5 passport size photographs
  • Foreign trekkers needed a Tourist VISA
  • You can easily obtain a VISA from Kathmandu International Airport

Permits

You need Manaslu Restricted Area Permit which costs around US $10-12 (per day), US $70-80 (per week) for SAARC nationals and other countries. (Autumn). Similarly it will cost US $7 (per day), US $50 per week (Spring).
