Visa Information

Every great journey begins with a single step. For your Himalayan adventure with Sherpa Discovery Treks, this step is simple – receiving your visa for Nepal. Don’t worry, it’s not complicated at all. Nepal makes it easier for travelers because the country wants you to come, explore, and feel at home.

Think of your visa as your key – since you are in your hand, mountains, monasteries, and magic valleys are waiting on the other side. Let’s guide it through the process as simply as possible.

Who needs a visa?

If you are not an Indian citizen, you will need a visa to enter Nepal. This is almost everyone around the world. But here is the good news: Nepal offers a visa on arrival, which means you don’t have to go through weeks of paperwork before traveling. Just land in Kathmandu or cross a border point, and you can get your visa right there.

Tourist Visas – Perfect for Trekkers

As you are traveling with Sherpa Discovery Treks, the since you need is a tourist visa. It gives a lot of time to travel, relax, and explore.

You can choose:

  • 15 days – US $ 30 (short trip)
  • 30 days – US $ 50 (most popular choice)
  • 90 days – $ 125 (great for prolonged stays)

If you fall in love with Nepal and want to stay longer, no problem – you can extend your visa within the country.

How to get a visa on arrival – the simple way

When you land in Kathmandu at Tribhuvan International Airport, this is what will happen:

  • Arrival Card – You fill out a small form with your details.
  • Kiosk machine – enter your information (name, passport, hotel, etc.). The machine will print a form with a barcode.
  • Payment Accountant – Pay your visa fee in cash.
  • Immigration Desk – Submit your form, receipt, and passport. The officer stamps your visa, and you are officially in Nepal!

It may take a while if many travelers arrive at once, but once the stamp is in your passport, the adventure begins.

Documents to be transported

To make things organized, keep them ready in your bag:

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months
  • One or two passport-size photos
  • Cash visa fee (preferential USD)
  • A blank page in your passport

Visa Extensions – Because Nepal is addictive

Let’s be honest: Most travelers plan for two weeks, but end up wanting more. This is why Nepal allows visa extensions. You can extend to the immigration department in Kathmandu or Pokhara.

  • 15-day extension – US $ 45
  • After 15 days – $ 3 a day
  • 30-day extension – US $ 90

Maximum stay: 150 days per calendar year in a tourist visa. Long time to travel more than one trail if you want!

Multiple Entry Visa – useful for side trips

Planning to enter Bhutan, Tibet, or India and then return to Nepal? You will need a multiple-entry visa. It costs $ 20 extra and saves you from reapplying every time you return.

Special notes that are worth knowing

  • Children under 10 years old usually do not pay visa fees.
  • Citizens of SAARC countries (such as Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, etc.) receive a 30-day free visa once a year.
  • Never remain too much in your visa – causes penalties and headaches in the match.
